Edexcel Mathematics.
What will I be covering in the course in Year 12?
The work covered is a consolidation and extension of work studied for GCSE Mathematics at grade 7 and above.
This will include:
Pure Maths: geometry, algebra, graphs, proof
Applied Maths: working with data, probability, mechanics
What will I be covering in the course in Year 13?
Pure Maths: algebra, trigonometry, calculus
Applied Maths: probability, mechanics
How will I be assessed?
The A Level in Mathematics will be assessed by three examinations at the end of year 13.
What can I do with this subject?
A Level mathematics is very highly regarded by universities and employers, and compliments studies in chemistry, biology, physics, geography, computing, business and economics.
Mathematicians can use their skill and knowledge in any career, and in particular medicine, sciences, accountancy, actuarial science, business, banking, computing, engineering, architecture, meteorology and teaching.
Specific entry requirements for this course
Students must achieve a grade 6 at GCSE Mathematics.
