Teacher of Maths

    • We are currently recruiting for a maternity cover contract. However, applicants may wish to note that we have recently been designated as a Maths Hub, which may lead to expansion of our maths department and further opportunities in the future. We require a talented, enthusiastic and outstanding teacher of mathematics. The maths department is very much a team; they are dynamic, forward looking and ambitious, setting themselves high targets for development and achievement for the forthcoming years, within a very supportive and reflective atmosphere.

Our GCSE results have been consistently outstanding for many years and we have continued this success with the A-Level results of our sixth form. The department is committed to improving learning through research, including metacognition, mastery and mixed attainment teaching. We have recently been recognised for our work in these areas by the DfE, thus the designation of the maths hub. Consequently, we are looking to expand our capacity as a high performing maths department. Additionally, you will benefit from:

Teacher of Social Sciences

    An outstanding teacher of Social Sciences is required to join a committed and hard-working department. The successful applicant would be expected to teach a range of classes to include Ethical Studies, Psychology and Sociology. Teaching would be across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5. Whilst the ability to teach all of these subjects would be desirable, we would also welcome applications from candidates with specialisms in Sociology or Psychology. An applicant who is innovative and passionate and can play a key role in developing an already outstanding subject offer for students is required. Additionally, you will benefit from:

  • Working with a department of Social Science specialists.

  • Teaching in a forward thinking department with excellent resources and facilities for teachers who love their subject.

Teacher of Food and Nutrition + Child Development

Start date: September 2020
Contract type: Part Time (0.6/0.8)
Contract term: Maternity Cover
Salary: MPS/UPS
Suitable for NQTs: Yes

We are seeking an excellent teacher of Food and Nutrition on a part time basis to cover a maternity leave. Applications from candidates with some ability to support the Child Development course would be welcomed, but this is not essential. Both food and child development courses are well established within our curriculum and are popular with students at KS4 due to the high quality provision they receive lower down the school. The successful candidate will have an infectious enthusiasm for cooking and well-being, as well as the ability to translate that into purposeful and challenging lessons. You will need to be able to lead dynamic practical and theory lessons. Lots of students take advantage of the wider curricular opportunities the department provide and a suitable candidate would share our drive to give as much access to these as possible. Applications are welcome from both experienced teachers and NQTs.
We are seeking a candidate who can offer 2-4 days a week or is able to work on a more flexible basis with some part days across the week. In total we require approx. 25 hours of teaching to be covered over a two week timetable.

Local Area

Solihull is the home of designer-brand shopping, idyllic rural villages, fine dining, fabulous hotels and home to the National Exhibition Centre and Genting Arena, which hosts an array of spectacular live events.  Still quaint, the town is dotted with historic architecture including timber-framed Tudor houses and shops and nearly three-quarters of the borough is defined as Green Belt. In addition to this, Solihull is surrounded by picturesque countryside.   Birmingham Airport is just 10 minutes away and Birmingham International station and Solihull station both provide excellent transport links across the country.
