This month students were invited to visit Vital Energi’s headquarters at the Solihull Energy Network. Behind the leisure centre, a new air source heat pump facility is being built to help Solihull council reach its goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2041. Students were taken around the site by lead engineers, managers and consultants who taught them how it works, how it’s being implemented and the many benefits this new technology will have on our school and the wider community. The committee was also spoilt to sweet treats, games and cold squash which is well deserved after the tour. Students said how fascinating, insightful  and innovative the project was. 

By next April, the pump will be in operation to reduce Tudor Grange’s heating bills and energy costs. The committee will hopefully return next spring to see what progress has been made and the impacts of it on our school’s carbon footprint.
