2020 PTA Raffle
On 16th December 2020, the PTA Raffle was drawn live online by an automated randomised number selection process. There were over 25 winners of prizes that had been generously donated by parents and local businesses, including Fiesta del Asado Restaurant in Shirley, the Crown Plaza Hotel and Nandos. We are delighted to confirm that the raffle raised £2685. A report with more details can be found under Recent Activities. Thank you to all who supported this event!
PTA Meeting 3rd December 2020
The PTA agreed to fund the following items requested by the school:
Food Tech: £160 for 20 food mixers
Media: £120 for 4 A Level Media theory library books
D&T: £380 for a Cricut Maker
RE: £332 for 2 new visualisers to support online lessons
2020 PTA AGM
The 2020 PTA AGM took place via Zoom on October 8th and was better attended then ever! Thank you to all those who participated. We accepted the accounts presented by Treasurer Jasbir Marwa and discussed 6 possible bids for funding from the school. We had £2581 available to spend. Funding was agreed as follows:
- English books (set texts) for students KS3-Year 9 – £750 with the request that there is a system in place to collect books back for use by future students as these should remain the property of the school
- D and T 2D design licence £500 for extended 3 year licence
- Politics A Level Text Books £300 – to remain the property of the school as above
Some conditional funding was offered to Geography if they have a shortfall to purchase equipment, and further information was requested from the English Dept.
Online Musical Bingo Event October 16th 2020
Our first online PTA fundraiser ever attracted support from over 80 families, of whom around 50 families participated on the night from their living rooms in the five rounds of bingo based on music, numbers and online banter. Prizes of chocolate, wine and tasty treats for a line and a full house, were won by 12 different people, including the first family to have purchased a ticket for the event! We were delighted to raise just over £700 for the school and it was so much fun that we are planning another similar event in the Spring, so there’s another chance for you to get involved! Thank you to everyone who generously supported us, and of course to King of the Castle Entertainment for running the event so professionally. Our sponsors of prizes included Marks and Spencer, the Co-op, Carluccios and The Sweet Fairy who kindly gave us a beautiful Halloween gift box: thank you again to them all!
Year 7 Disco
The Year 7 Disco that took place on 22nd November 2019 raised £543 which will be doubled by the magic of match funding, courtesy of DHL. Thanks to all involved and parents who supported this event.

If you work for a company that offers match funding PLEASE GET IN TOUCH WITH THE PTA! we can double everything we can raise, massively increasing the value of what we can add at TGA, if we can find parents whose employers will match fund. Details are on the letter published on the Portal and Parent Post, and are available from the PTA. You don’t have to do anything much at all for us to be able to claim this!
